Our History

Disciple Central Community church was founded in January of 2008 by Pastor Marcus D. King with only seven members, including himself. In September of 2008, the church, located in DeSoto, TX, partnered with Johnson Chapel Community Church who had 47 members and was in need of a pastor and leadership. In January 2013, the church has been fully functioning by the original name, Disciple Central Community Church. The church membership has grown to more than 3,200 in the first five years.

What makes the church exceptional in DeSoto is its members and their heart to serve the community with several outreach ministries and with genuine love for all those they come in contact with.

With about 32 percent of the DC3 church membership from DeSoto, there is also 29 percent Dallas-based members and the remainder from all over North Texas, Lancaster, Waxahachie, Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Glenn Heights, Midlothian, Arlington, and as far away as Allen, Ft. Worth, and Bedford. As the founder and Senior Pastor of Disciple Central Community Church, Marcus King was the first member looking at his role in the church as one in which he would be a life changer and servant.

Some of the church’s outreach programs include Behind Closed Doors, involving domestic violence issues with what is called, “A Day To Shine”, which is a day where women and children from shelters are pampered and given free massages, pedicures, and clothing. There is also JAIL (Justice, Agencies, Incarceration, Legal), Seek & Find Employment Ministry, and FED UP (Families Eating Daily Undermining Poverty) in which the church offers groceries for needy families for up to 90 days free of charge, free counseling, free resume writing, free business & casual attire, utility and rental assistance, and job readiness.

As a reflection of DC3’s commitment to the community, the church holds a Business & Career Expo annually where local businesses are showcased, empowerment seminars are facilitated and hiring employers participate in a large job fair. The Life Enrichment Center offers free premarital, marital, drug and alcohol, spiritual, adolescent and child counseling free of charge to the community with resident licensed professional counselors. A program called WITNESS involves mission in West Africa, Haiti, and Jamaica.

DC3 has helped to start a clinic, fund a school, purchased land for a village church, given over $20,000 to help renovate an existing church as well as other outreach efforts in The Gambia, West Africa. The church is also creating clinics in Haiti, as well as outreaches in Jamaica along with funding water filters for Togo, West Africa and Philippines.

These are just a few of the outreaches over the last few years where thousands of lives and thousands of dollars with hundreds of volunteers have been involved. Some of the memorable experiences, however, are baptizing entire families together on the same day, seeing marriages restored, seeing children gain self-esteem and seeing hurting people heal
